happening things

Fall is drop dead gorgeous here in the Hudson Valley. I have been blessed to live down the road from the Vanderbilt Mansion. Having free access to run around this property has been such a gift for the past few years. Running here in the fall has just made my life more complete.

Speaking of running, I have been running longer distances lately, but fewer times a week. I'm averaging 4 days a week of working out. I have a 6 mile run on one day and a 8-9 mile run on Sundays. In between I keep the cardio to 30 minutes and do core exercises. I really like my routine, but I have a feeling I'll kick it up a notch back to 6 days a week since my schedule is opening up more.

My schedule has not been very flexible so running HAS to be on certain days. Sundays are always my long run days. So, when I saw the rain, I kept trekking on for 9 long miles. I love running in the rain. My phone and headphones do not. My shorts were doing a little clinging action the entire time.

To refuel from my long run in the rain yesterday, I made a quick Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. Usana Vanilla Protein Powder, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, nutmeg and almond milk. Oh so pumpkin-y.

The other day Tyler and I were grocery shopping at Adams. I picked out a little pumpkin instead of carving one. As we were getting back into the car with our groceries, Tyler said "I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be back". He returned with Mums. So thoughtful he is, I had just said how pretty they were. Not to mention one of the mums are called "Aubrey Mums"!

Here is our festive fall decor on our porch step.

I've been eating oatmeal a lot. Also because I do not have anything else in my kitchen. The almond butter, honey and salt combo in my oatmeal has blew my mind. I call it:
Honey Roasted Almond Oatmeal

With hope, I made us a milk jug dedicated to our Eleven Madison Park fund. We both really want to eat there someday. It's sort of the only fine dining restaurant I want to eat at in New York City. It's prestige is only getting higher and their concept is incredible. It's a highly talked about restaurant on campus. Everyone wants to extern or work there someday. We have about $.57 in there right now. I'd say that's enough for a glass of tap water.... We have a long way to go!

I'll leave you with a kitten photo. I knew you were waiting for one.
