one of those days when every bite is satisfying...

Ever have those days when after every time you eat you say to yourself, "wow I loved that"? And proceed to say that all day until you're lying in bed saying to yourself "I ate so well today"?

I had that all weekend! Everything I ate was completely satisfying. My reason for being so satisfied was probably due to the fact that I ate pretty darn clean all week. Including Green Superfood bars, salad, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs and virtually no dessert (other than apples with peanut butter).

I might be one of the only people out there that can get past that a protein bar is green, filled with vegetable powders and tastes like farm and still think it's pretty delicious. A big thanks to Swanson Health Products for the 25 dollar coupon to buy myself a box of these tasty Amazing Grass Organic Green SuperFood Energy bars!

After a few months of peanut butter eating hiatus, I am back!

My favorite protein-filled snack has been hard boiled eggs. I hard boil a dozen and leave them in the fridge. Don't know how to hard boil an egg? Don't fret.
Hard Boiled Eggs
1. Place eggs in a pot of cold water
2. Turn heat on high
3. Start a timer for 15 minutes
4. Once timer goes off, poor out boiling liquid.
5. Cool eggs down in an ice bath.

After a week filled with healthy eating, school, work, school, work again and then of course working out.... I headed into the city with Tyler. A very pretty drive on the taconic.

We enjoyed ourselves in the city filling the day with food that made our souls feel cozy.

First stop was to Salumeria Rosi for plate filled with charcuterie. Absolutely delicious charcuterie. They served it with bread and olive oil. Not just any bread. The best focaccia I've ever had. Juicy focaccia packed full of olive oil and salt. Super crunchy on both sides with a soft doughy inside. Oh thank you heaven for this little shop.

And because we were only steps away from Levain Bakery.... we hopped on in. I had never been to this bakery, but heard so many mouthwatering words about their famous cookies. I've even tried copycat recipe. I'm now afraid the copycat recipe doesn't stand a chance against the real thing.

Tyler insisted that we try two. I opted for the Chocolate Chip Walnut and we both decided on the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.

The Chocolate Chip Walnut won the contest. However, I might have to go back to taste their Oatmeal Raisin. Just for research obviously...

After the explosion of sugar, we met up with my old friend from high school at the Blind Tiger for some tasty beer! Their beer on tap never disappoints.

After a few hours of walking around to work up another appetite, we headed to The Meatball Shop. I had heard so much about the meatballs, decent prices and atmosphere. It was time to visit.

Folks, you need to go there. Cheap, easy going, comfort food well made, delicious, juicy, well seasoned, comfy and nice! I will be going back as soon as I can. It was that good. I know, among the jilllion restaurants to try, who would ever want to go back to one single restaurant? The Meatball is an exception.

I was interested to see what the veggie meatballs were like. I ordered them with pesto on a salad. Tyler got a couple sliders and a side of polenta. Oh my word that polenta... creamy, cheesy, warm, gooey....
(the sun soon set and the restaurant got dark, so these are similar photos of mine from other foodies that got the same thing as me!)

Tyler was still feeling a little spot in his heart for something sweet, so we took my friends to Momofuku Milk Bar. We shared a cup of their cereal milk frozen yogurt. I will never understand how they make this. We both chatted about the possibilities but never came to a conclusion as to how they perfected it. It literally tastes like cornflakes soaked in milk! The fact that they pack on crunchy sweet corn flakes on the side of the frozen yogurt is a whole new world of happiness. Thank you Momofuku Milk Bar. You were super nice!
Now if you'll excuse me, it's time to get back into the rhythm of school, working, school, working and of course sweating....

When was the last time you had "one of those days" where everything you ate was totally satisfying?
