tyler's birthday celebration

Tyler has been working 16 hour days 5 days a week. 16 hour days!

Did I mention he isn't even getting paid? I know I know... the things we have to do during culinary school. I'm so lucky I worked 45ish hours a week on my externship, haha.

He had to work on his birthday last week, so we celebrated his birthday this week. Of course his "weekend" is Monday and Tuesday.

We started Monday with a tasty meal at Tarry Tavern in Tarrytown. We shared a few appetizers as our meal.

Chicken liver mousse with crostinis, Buratta cheese with strawberries and rhubarb compote and grilled squid with potatoes

Oh yeeeeeah.

Tuesday morning rolled around and we decided to take the train into the city for a little day beer drinking.

Mr. Handsome Birthday Boy

We went to our favorite bar The Blind Tiger.

Sorry for the bad picture! We shared two different flights. It was hard to pick 10 beers out of 30 on tap!

Our favorite was definitely the Nebraska Hop God.

Soon after, we headed to Bierreria at the rooftop of Eataly.

More delicious beer.

and a pair of very happy people.

It was great! We sat at the bar and happened to sit next to a CIA grad. We ended up chatting for 2 hours with him. I love when that happens.

With two big appetites and Shake Shack a few hundred feet from Eataly....we got some burgers!

WORTH EVERY SINGLE BITE.

I loved celebrating Tyler's birthday even though it was late. The best part, was not having an agenda, walking around until we decided on our next destination and the fact that it was a Tuesday afternoon without the bajillion other people in the city to crowd our favorite places.

How do you like celebrating your birthday? What's your ideal birthday day?
