run faster

Oye!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I appreciate your honesty and will keep your thoughts in mind when I write.

So listen, I've been working out. I just don't blog about it. To be honest I get bored to death reading other bloggers daily routines and don't want to be like that...

HOWEVER, I do want to share with you my most recent discovery that I am currently starting to try.

Whenever I need a little inspiration I actually go to these websites:

I recently read a post about running and how your body can get to a plateu of some sort. As soon as I read this I immedietly realized I am at a plateu. I run 23-25 miles a week. If I run more my knees will start to ache, but my body really isnt changing and my overall fitness seems to have come to a hault.

I read further and learned that the more you run, the better your body gets at running. Which will actually cause it to become more efficient and burn less calories than before.

So, to get back on a calorie burning track, it suggested doing more speedwork. Intervals, shorter faster runs etc. That way, your body has to constantly adjust to this fast pace type of running.

Of course it also suggested trying other cardio like swimming and cycling. (Ugh) AND weight training. I actually do a weights routine twice a week and a full body weight workout totalling three days a week of weight training.

Blah blah blah....moving on.

I was pretty excited to embark on my new running faster routine.

Yesterday I decided to do intervals and then about 30 minutes of circuit weight training.

Intervals:
1 mile warm up at a 6.5mph pace
4 half mile sprints with a 1 minute rest in between each half mile.
1 mile cool down

It is crazy how much you sweat after an interval run! I averaged 3:40 for each half mile which totals to about a 7:20 minute mile.

This morning I ran 4.55 miles. I ran the first two miles relatively fast and then hit long hills that slowed me down.

Tomorrow....I'm planning on doing shorter sprints and another 30 minutes of weight training.

If you have experienced anything similar, please share your wise words. PLEASE.

I would like to humor you with a little short story.

I made myself a protein filled lunch yesterday before school.

Eggs, chickpeas, hemp seeds and fresh spinach. About 2 hours after class and all, I popped open my container to dive in.

As I took my first bite, all I tasted was laundry detergent. It just about ruined my whole day. EVERY BITE WAS SOAPY.

I then realized that I had used the same container last week to wash my sweaty iphone armband holder. I let the armband soak in water and detergent overnight. Even though I had washed the container, it still permanently perfumed it....which is why my eggs and chickpeas tasted soapy.

Glad you find this humuerous.

Instead of wollowing in my gross lunch sorrows, I got myself a cappuccino from Starbucks and went along with my day.

To top off my night, I came home to find that my computer is dead and that the hard drive probably needs to be replaced.

Now I understand why people drink wine.

Instead, I will drink a green monster and doddle around the apartment until it's time for school.

Hope your day is filled with happiness!
